presscomet

A Rank Math alternative, without the modules to manage.

Rank Math does a lot through modules. Presscomet splits the essentials into two bundled plugins — SEO for titles, analysis, schema and sitemaps, and Redirection for redirects and a 404 log — and converts your Rank Math post data on migration.

Switching from Rank Math: the short version.

You get

  • Rank Math SEO title, description, focus keyword, canonical, robots and primary category converted per post
  • Title templates, separator, robots per post type, knowledge graph and social profiles imported
  • Breadcrumbs settings and Google/Bing verification codes imported
  • Redirects and a 404 log, as a separate bundled plugin

Not included

  • One focus keyword per post — the first of your Rank Math keywords is kept
  • Rank Math redirections and 404 logs aren’t imported (they live in Rank Math’s own tables)
  • No schema generator, Content AI, rank tracker or local SEO

Rank Math vs Yoast vs built in

Rank Math packs many features into its free version — redirects, multiple focus keywords, a schema generator — switched on and off as modules. Yoast keeps the free plugin smaller. Both are PHP plugins you install and update.

On Presscomet, the core SEO job is built in and uses Yoast’s data format internally. Your Rank Math data is converted into it once, on migration.

Is Rank Math making the admin slow?

The more modules a plugin runs, the more it does on each admin screen and on uncached front-end requests: analytics sync, 404 logging, redirect checks, schema building.

Public pages on Presscomet are rendered once and served from a built-in page cache until the content changes, so a plugin's work happens at render time, not on every visit. Redirects are checked before a page is looked up, and the 404 log writes only when a page is actually missing.

Rank Math vulnerabilities and updates

Every PHP plugin is code that runs on your server and has to be kept up to date, and Rank Math is no exception: security fixes only protect you once they are installed. To check any plugin's history, search it in a public vulnerability database such as WPScan, Patchstack or the CVE list.

Presscomet doesn't run PHP at all. Its bundled plugins are part of the application, so they are updated together with it — there is no separate plugin to patch, and no plugin upload that can execute PHP.

What moves over automatically.

Rank Math settings are mapped onto the SEO plugin’s settings, and Rank Math post meta is converted to the keys the SEO box reads.

How switching works.

  1. 01

    Check your site

Run the free site check to see which of your plugins Presscomet replaces and what needs attention.

  2. 02

    Run the migration

Connect your WordPress site. Content, users, media and plugin settings are imported into a new Presscomet site; your live site is only read.

  3. 03

    Review and switch

Open SEO in the admin menu and the SEO box under each post; redirects under Tools → Redirection to check the imported settings, then point your domain at the new site when you’re happy.

Where to find it: SEO in the admin menu and the SEO box under each post; redirects under Tools → Redirection.

Rank Math alternative: questions

Are my Rank Math titles and descriptions kept?

Yes. Per-post titles, descriptions, focus keywords, canonicals, robots settings and primary categories are converted on migration.

What about my Rank Math redirects?

Rank Math keeps redirects in its own database table, which isn’t part of a WordPress export. Export them to CSV in Rank Math and import the file under Tools → Redirection.

I used several focus keywords. What happens?

The first keyword becomes the post’s focus keyphrase. The others aren’t kept.

Does the [rank_math_breadcrumb] shortcode still work?

Yes, it renders the breadcrumb trail, as do [wpseo_breadcrumb] and the breadcrumbs block.

Can I keep running Rank Math instead?

No. Presscomet doesn’t run PHP, so WordPress plugins can’t be installed. The bundled SEO plugin does the job instead, and the migration imports the settings listed above.

Does Presscomet support WooCommerce?

Not today. Presscomet is for content sites — blogs, magazines, business and documentation sites. If your site sells through WooCommerce, it isn’t a fit yet.
