Redirects and a 404 log, built in.

Tools → Redirection, as you know it: exact or regex rules with $1 back-references, 301/302/307/308 and 404/410 responses, hit counts, a 404 log, CSV import and export, and an automatic 301 whenever a published post’s permalink changes.

Bundled with Presscomet · Replaces Redirection, Safe Redirect Manager

What it does, and what it doesn’t.

You get

  • Redirect rules with regex and capture groups
  • A 404 log you can turn into redirects
  • Automatic 301s when a post’s slug changes, with chain and loop clean-up
  • CSV import and export

Not included

  • No conditional rules (login status, role, browser, referrer, cookie, IP)
  • No pass-through or random-target actions

Redirects run before the page does

Rules are checked before Presscomet looks up the page, so a redirect never renders a page first. Redirects also clear the cache when they change, so a new rule takes effect right away.

When you change a published post’s slug, the old URL gets a 301 to the new one in the “Modified Posts” group. Rules that would now loop are disabled, and rules that pointed at the old URL are pointed at the new one.

How switching works.

  1. 01

    Check your site

Run the free site check to see which of your plugins Presscomet replaces and what needs attention.

  2. 02

    Run the migration

Connect your WordPress site. Content, users, media and plugin settings are imported into a new Presscomet site; your live site is only read.

  3. 03

    Review and switch

Open Tools → Redirection to check the imported settings, then point your domain at the new site when you’re happy.

Where to find it: Tools → Redirection.

Redirection: questions

Do my redirects keep working after migration?

URL-based rules from the Redirection plugin and Safe Redirect Manager are imported with their codes and hit counts. Rules with extra conditions (login status, role, referrer, browser, cookie, IP) are skipped, so re-create those another way if you need them.

Can I bulk import redirects?

Yes. Import a CSV with at least source and target columns; regex, code and title columns are optional. You can paste CSV text too.

Does it log 404 errors?

Yes. 404s are logged with a count and first/last seen dates, and you can export the log as CSV or turn an entry into a redirect.

Can I keep running Redirection instead?

No. Presscomet doesn’t run PHP, so WordPress plugins can’t be installed. The bundled Redirection plugin does the job instead, and the migration imports the settings listed above.

Does Presscomet support WooCommerce?

Not today. Presscomet is for content sites — blogs, magazines, business and documentation sites. If your site sells through WooCommerce, it isn’t a fit yet.
