Presscomet vs WordPress
Same admin. Same block markup. Same REST API. The difference is everything underneath — and who has to babysit it.

The honest verdict
Stay on WordPress if…
- — You rely on a PHP plugin with no bundled equivalent
- — You run a WooCommerce store or a Multisite network
- — Your team builds custom plugins in PHP and wants to keep doing so
- — Your front end depends on WPGraphQL
Switch to Presscomet if…
- — Your pages are slow and caching plugins haven’t fixed it
- — You’re tired of PHP upgrades, MySQL and plugin security patches
- — Your developers already write TypeScript and React
- — Editors must keep the WordPress admin they know
Common questions
Is Presscomet a fork of WordPress?
No. It contains no WordPress PHP code. It’s a TypeScript reimplementation with the same database shape (posts, postmeta, terms, options), the same admin screens, the same URLs and the same REST API. The block editor is Presscomet’ own React implementation that reads and writes standard block markup.
Can I run WordPress without PHP?
Not WordPress core itself — but Presscomet gives you the same editing experience, content model and API with no PHP anywhere in the stack.
Is it cheaper to host?
Often. Without a PHP worker pool or a MySQL server, a site needs one Node.js process and a disk. Self-hosting is free; a hosted Cloud version is on the waitlist, with no pricing yet.
Can I go back to WordPress later?
Yes. Export a standard WXR file from Tools › Export and import it into any WordPress site.
