presscomet

A CookieYes alternative that runs on your own site.

No account, no external script: the banner, categories and blocking all run on your site. Banner text, button labels, colours and position from the classic CookieYes plugin (GDPR Cookie Consent / Cookie Law Info) are imported.

Replaced by the bundled Cookie Consent plugin · Included free with Presscomet

Switching from CookieYes: the short version.

You get

  • Accept, reject and customise with four categories
  • Scripts and embeds blocked until consent
  • Google Consent Mode v2
  • Banner text, buttons, colours and position imported from the classic plugin

Not included

  • No cookie scanner or auto-generated cookie list
  • No consent log, geo-targeting or multi-language banner
  • Settings kept in CookieYes’s web app (newer plugin versions) aren’t imported

Why run consent on your own site?

A hosted consent platform loads its script from another domain before anything else — ironically, a third party on every page view. Running the banner locally avoids that request and keeps the logic in your site.

The trade-off is the extras a platform provides: automatic cookie scans, consent records and per-country rules.

What moves over automatically.

The classic plugin stored banner settings in WordPress options; those are imported. Visitors are asked once more because the consent cookie changes.

  • Settings held in the CookieYes web app

  • CookieYes (Cookie Law Info): cookie banner settings imported. Visitors will be asked for consent again (the consent cookie name changed).

How switching works.

  1. 01

    Check your site

Run the free site check to see which of your plugins Presscomet replaces and what needs attention.

  2. 02

    Run the migration

Connect your WordPress site. Content, users, media and plugin settings are imported into a new Presscomet site; your live site is only read.

  3. 03

    Review and switch

Open Settings → Cookie Consent to check the imported settings, then point your domain at the new site when you’re happy.

Where to find it: Settings → Cookie Consent.

CookieYes alternative: questions

Do I need a CookieYes account?

No. Everything runs on your site.

Will visitors see the banner again after the move?

Yes, once. The consent cookie has a different name, so earlier choices aren’t carried over.

Is this legal advice?

No. It provides the mechanisms; what your site needs depends on where you and your visitors are.

Can I keep running CookieYes instead?

No. Presscomet doesn’t run PHP, so WordPress plugins can’t be installed. The bundled Cookie Consent plugin does the job instead, and the migration imports the settings listed above.

Does Presscomet support WooCommerce?

Not today. Presscomet is for content sites — blogs, magazines, business and documentation sites. If your site sells through WooCommerce, it isn’t a fit yet.
