A WP Super Cache alternative that knows when to purge.

WP Super Cache writes static HTML files and expires them on a timer. Here, pages are cached the same simple way, but purged when the content they show changes — and preloaded again in the background so the next visitor still gets a cached page.

Switching from WP Super Cache: the short version.

You get

  • Static-like page caching on any host
  • Purge on publish, edit and delete
  • Preload after purge and daily
  • Lazy loading and a YouTube preview image

Not included

  • No expert mode with server rewrite rules (not needed)
  • No basic CDN rewriting — put a CDN in front
  • Settings in wp-cache-config.php aren’t imported

WP Super Cache showing old pages?

A timer-based cache either serves stale content until it expires, or expires so often it barely helps. Garbage collection and preload settings exist to balance that.

Here, the cache is purged when content changes and preloaded straight after, so the lifetime is optional — set it only if you want pages refreshed regularly anyway.

What moves over automatically.

WP Super Cache keeps most settings in wp-content/wp-cache-config.php. When its expiry and preload settings are in the database, they’re imported.

Imported

  • Preloadpreload_on

Not imported

  • wp-cache-config.php settings (caching mode, rejected URLs, CDN)

How switching works.

  1. 01

    Check your site

Run the free site check to see which of your plugins Presscomet replaces and what needs attention.

  2. 02

    Run the migration

Connect your WordPress site. Content, users, media and plugin settings are imported into a new Presscomet site; your live site is only read.

  3. 03

    Review and switch

Open Settings → Cache, and Clear Cache in the toolbar to check the imported settings, then point your domain at the new site when you’re happy.

Where to find it: Settings → Cache, and Clear Cache in the toolbar.

WP Super Cache alternative: questions

Do I need to choose a caching mode?

No. There is one mode, and it works on any host.

Can I clear the cache manually?

Yes — Clear Cache in the toolbar or on Settings → Cache. You rarely need to.

Can I keep running WP Super Cache instead?

No. Presscomet doesn’t run PHP, so WordPress plugins can’t be installed. The bundled Cache plugin does the job instead, and the migration imports the settings listed above.

Does Presscomet support WooCommerce?

Not today. Presscomet is for content sites — blogs, magazines, business and documentation sites. If your site sells through WooCommerce, it isn’t a fit yet.
