presscomet

Email that actually arrives.

Every email the site sends — password resets, form notifications, comment alerts — goes through your SMTP server, with a forced From address, an Email Test tab and an Email Log you can search and resend from.

Bundled with Presscomet · Replaces WP Mail SMTP, Post SMTP, Easy WP SMTP, FluentSMTP

yoursite.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=smtp&tab=log
Illustration · Settings → SMTP → Email Log: every message with its status, ready to resend.

What it does, and what it doesn’t.

You get

  • Any SMTP provider: SSL, TLS or STARTTLS, with authentication
  • Force From email and From name, set the Return-Path
  • Email Test tab and an Email Log with resend
  • Connection can come from an environment variable instead of the database

Not included

  • No provider API mailers or OAuth sign-in (Gmail, Microsoft 365, SendGrid API…) — use the provider’s SMTP relay
  • No backup connection or delivery alerts

WordPress not sending email?

By default WordPress hands mail to the server’s mail function, without authentication. Many hosts block it, and receiving servers often treat it as spam. An SMTP plugin fixes this by logging in to a real mail provider.

Set the host, port, encryption and login under Settings → SMTP, then use the Email Test tab. Failures show the server’s error message, and the Email Log shows every message with its status.

What moves over automatically.

The importer reads the first SMTP plugin it finds and fills in Settings → SMTP. Passwords stored encrypted by the old site can’t be decrypted, so you re-enter those once.

Imported

  • WP Mail SMTP: From email/name, force flags, Return-Path, mailer, host, port, encryption, auto TLS, auth, usernamewp_mail_smtp
  • Post SMTP: sender, host, port, encryption, auth, username and passwordpostman_options
  • Easy WP SMTP: From fields, host, port, encryption, auth, usernameswpsmtp_options
  • FluentSMTP: the SMTP connection’s sender, host, port, encryption, auth, usernamefluentmail-settings

Not imported

  • Encrypted SMTP passwords (WP Mail SMTP, Easy WP SMTP, FluentSMTP)
  • API mailer connections (SendGrid, Mailgun, Gmail…) — set up the provider’s SMTP relay instead
  • Old email logs
Example importer output. The wording is the importer’s; the numbers are illustrative.
  • WP Mail SMTP: the SMTP password is stored encrypted with the old site's keys and cannot be imported — re-enter it under Settings → SMTP.
  • WP Mail SMTP: SMTP settings imported (smtp, smtp.example.com:587).

How switching works.

  1. 01

    Check your site

Run the free site check to see which of your plugins Presscomet replaces and what needs attention.

  2. 02

    Run the migration

Connect your WordPress site. Content, users, media and plugin settings are imported into a new Presscomet site; your live site is only read.

  3. 03

    Review and switch

Open Settings → SMTP: General, Email Test and Email Log tabs to check the imported settings, then point your domain at the new site when you’re happy.

Where to find it: Settings → SMTP: General, Email Test and Email Log tabs.

SMTP: questions

Which email providers work?

Any provider that offers SMTP: Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Amazon SES, Mailgun, SendGrid, Postmark, Brevo, your host’s mailbox and so on. Use the provider’s SMTP host, port and credentials.

Is my SMTP password imported?

From Post SMTP, yes. WP Mail SMTP, Easy WP SMTP and FluentSMTP store it encrypted with the old site’s keys, so you re-enter it once.

How long are emails logged?

Log entries are kept for 30 days. Attachments aren’t stored in the log.

Can I keep running WP Mail SMTP instead?

No. Presscomet doesn’t run PHP, so WordPress plugins can’t be installed. The bundled SMTP plugin does the job instead, and the migration imports the settings listed above.

Does Presscomet support WooCommerce?

Not today. Presscomet is for content sites — blogs, magazines, business and documentation sites. If your site sells through WooCommerce, it isn’t a fit yet.
