presscomet

Post views and related posts, no tracking scripts.

Counts views on each post (once per browser per interval, bots ignored), shows the count before or after the content or with [post-views], lists the most viewed posts in a widget, and picks related posts by shared categories and tags.

Bundled with Presscomet · Replaces Post Views Counter, WP-PostViews, YARPP, Contextual Related Posts

What it does, and what it doesn’t.

You get

  • View counts stored in post meta
  • Count interval, exclude logged-in users, bots never counted
  • Related posts as a list or thumbnails
  • [post-views] shortcode and a Most Viewed widget

Not included

  • Related posts match on categories and tags only, not full-text similarity

Why view counters can slow a cached site

A view counter has to write on every view, which is at odds with page caching. Many counters bypass the cache or run an extra request per page.

Here the page stays cached and a small background call records the view, throttled per browser, so counting never blocks the page.

Post Views: questions

Are my old view counts kept?

Yes. Totals from Post Views Counter and counters stored as post meta (such as WP-PostViews) are imported.

Are search engine bots counted?

No. Crawlers and other bots are never counted.

Can I keep running Post Views Counter instead?

No. Presscomet doesn’t run PHP, so WordPress plugins can’t be installed. The bundled Post Views plugin does the job instead, and the migration imports the settings listed above.

Does Presscomet support WooCommerce?

Not today. Presscomet is for content sites — blogs, magazines, business and documentation sites. If your site sells through WooCommerce, it isn’t a fit yet.
